What time is check-in?

Check-in is from 14.00.

Early check-in is possible if there is a room available in your guest portal.

How late can I check-in?

Any time! We’re open 24 hours a day and there will always be a member of the team available if you need anything.

Can I do a pre check-in?

Yes you can (and should!).

Fill in the required details in your online guest portal in advance to save you time on arrival.

Can I drop off my luggage if I arrive early?

Sorry, we don't have space to store your luggage for you, but Bounce or  Luggage Hero offer solutions for this.

Can I pay at check-out?

Payment is always done in advance to secure your booking.

Cash or card?

We work with Mastercard, VISA, American Express, Maestro +

V-Pay debit cards as well as several international online

money transfer systems.

Please note: we don’t accept any cash on the property. 

How does tourist tax/city tax work?

The Amsterdam municipal tourist tax (city tax) is 12.5% of the room price.

We don't set the rates!


Depending on your booking this will either be included with the advance room payment, or paid separately to the hotel - always read the booking payment terms and conditions carefully.

Tip: don’t confuse the municipal tourist tax with VAT, or BTW in the Netherlands.

Can I get an invoice for my stay?

Yes, your invoice can be downloaded from your online guest portal after you have checked out. You can also add company details if necessary.

Please note, certain invoices need to be obtained directly from the online booking agents.

Do you have twin beds?

All our rooms have a king bed with one large duvet. We can provide an extra single duvet on request, and according to availability.

Bedding & allergies

Our pillows use anti-allergic and anti-bacterial eco-down (a synthetic filling that feels like down). Our duvets are anti-allergic + dust mite resistant.

What's on TV?

We have Chromecast Smart TVs so you can access your favourite apps or login on your own device and stream away. Simple!

Can I eat a take-away meal in my room?

Rooms at Poppies are not configured for dining-in, so we cannot allow take-away meals to be consumed in the rooms. But, if you're hungry, our lobby café is open from 8.00 - 22.00 and serves delicious small plates made with locally sourced ingredients.

Do you have hairdryers?

How about an iron+ ironing board?

You'll have to bring your own hairdryer, but we do have irons + ironing boards on request to keep you looking fresh.

Is breakfast included in the rate?

When hunger strikes you can find excellent coffee, fresh bakes and some light but delicious breakfast options in our lobby ca, but this isn't included in the rate.

Can I get breakfast to go?

Sure! We'll pour you a coffee, pack up a pastry and send you on your way.

What is there to eat, drink + snack on?

Our lobby café is open daily [menu] + we have a couple of well-stocked and cleverly curated vending machines that accept cards.

Can I stay at Poppies if

I'm younger than 18?

Anyone below 16yrs needs to be accompanied by an adult.

Anyone under 18yrs must be authorized by their parent/guardian to stay alone. Get an authorization form here.

Can I bring a baby/child?

Yes.

However, all rooms are strictly for 2 people only, including kids and babies. Note that a baby bed does not fit in the room.

What if I'm travelling with an adult + child/baby?

The rule is strictly 2 people per room due to space restrictions, so two people with a child or baby must book a second room for one of the adults.

Can I bring my pet?

We wish you could, but space is limited. Friendly dogs are welcome in the lobby café though!

How do I get to Poppies?

Can I rent a bike?

Cycling is our favourite way to get around Amsterdam! Here's is a link to bike rental in the neighbourhood.

Where can I park my car?

You can park your car in the neighbourhood but parking garages + street parking can be expensive in Amsterdam. We recommend using Park + Ride in Amsterdam Noord.

Where can I buy public transport tickets?

You can buy GVB public transport tickets from the ticket machines at all the major stations and stops in Amsterdam including Schiphol, Central Station + Noorderpark Metro Station near Poppies. 
You can also use OVpay which is super handy!
